Butterfly season has started

Hooray, I saw my first Northern German butterfly today- a lovely Inachis io. What is your first butterfly this year?

Personally I like this butterfly, Pieris napi a lot, because the males smell often very nice like lemon. These butterflies are easily distinguished by the black coloration of the veins on the underside of the wings (that is why it´s called “green-veined White” in English).
