First of all, how can you tell it is a butterfly and not a moth? One of the most obvious characteristics is the shape of the antennae. Butterflies usually have a club-shaped ending of the antennae. Antennae of many male moths species looks “fringy”. Besides that, most moths are also less colourfull than moths, and moths usually don´t close their wings when they are sitting.
